I'll be at the Anderson City Council meeting this evening and providing you live coverage of the meeting as it happens. Look for my posts at around 6 p.m., when the meeting begins at 1887 Howard St.
"It's an honor to receive this and thank you," he said to the council. Guess he's not big on public speaking (I can relate).
Mayor Susie Baugh: "It makes me very proud of our officers and our Department."
Now Council is hearing report on the city's parks.
No public comments, up next is consent agenda (routine, non-controversial subject matter)
Next up: police honor retiring records clerk Linda Justi. She has more than 25 years. "She has severely impacted our department in a positive way," Chief Johnson says.
She was good at "running interference," aka vetting people who wanted to talk to the chief when he was really busy. She always worded it one of two ways, one of which starts with "this jerk..."
Councilman Baron Browning: "I think she did that to me twice."
Justi has served under six Chiefs, according to resolution honoring her. Also worked as dispatcher.
