I hear a lot about property crime, property crime. Paoletti said he's concerned about under reporting of property crimes, because they cannot properly measure.
Violent crimes has dropped: 2 homicides, 50 rape, 145 robberies, 417 assaults from last year. #RPDTALK
There is artificiality in that. Rape statistics have been redefined, according to Paoletti. Rape is still a bad statistic. Most rape reports come from OneSafe Place. #RPDTALK

Paoletti said the biggest portion of violent crime is aggravated assault. Majority are domestic violence. It continues to be a problem for Redding. It's difficult, because those crimes take place in a home that keep police out. #RPDTalk
Property crimes saw a big increase. 769 burglary 2,888 general larceny. 512 Motor Vehicle Theft. One detective arrested someone on a crime. Suspect said, "If you said I did them, I did them," according to Paoletti.
People have gotten better as 39 percent burglaries had no signs of forced entry. Paoletti said the justice system is being dismantled due to less and less punishments. #RPDTalk
You have to think from the crime prevention stand point, Paoletti said, regarding people who leave belongings in their car or leaving their doors unlocked. #RPDTalk
Root cause of property crimes, violent crimes are due to drug abuse in community. Paoletti asks how do we get more drug treatment, mental health treatment. #RPDTalk

Web Reporting Tools have become part of the RPD's efforts on their website. To report a crime, illegal encampments, abandoned shopping carts. #RPDTalk
Online reporting is important, but RPD are not seeing it enough. It provides a good measure, true picture for the department. Shows an accurate picture of the city. #RPDTalk
